Cascading waterfalls of the Potomac River located just west of Washington, DC.
The park spans both sides of the Potomac River. The park area on the Virginia side of the river is Great Falls National Park and on the Maryland side of the river is Great Falls Tavern Park.
It is about a 20 mile drive between the two park areas. No direct river crossing.
Bring several lenses - wide zoom (16-35), intermediate zoom (24-70), telephoto zoom (70-200 and 80-400) if you want to shoot the falls, scenery and wildlife.

Three overlooks provide different perspectives of the falls on the Virginia side. The Maryland side has foot bridges over the rapids for great shots of the narrow channels and rapids. Hiking trails. Wildlife Several other parks nearby or connected by trails.
