Kinkaku-ji is one of Kyoto’s leading temples. Its formal name is Rokuon-ji. It was built at the end of the 14th century originally as a villa for Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the shogun at the time. It's one of the most ancient Buddhist temple in Kyoto. It has a huge Buddha statue at lower floor easy to see from outside the pod. Only Monacs are allowed to enter. The surrounding pod and stones because the reflection of lights seem to be golden too
